The most unforgettable role in my life

           ‘ The period I spent as the head prefect of my school ’   is my most unforgettable leading role in my life. I am the former head prefect of St.Sebastian’s Central College Katuneriya in 2022-2023. 

                      My school was established on 1873 AD. Since that period onwards, I am the first and only head prefect that emerged from the dancing section. During my duty period there were 90 prefects under me and the other head prefect girl , such as 4 Deputy head prefects , 58 senior prefects and 28 junior prefects. We did so many things at the school during our duty period.

                     If I list down some memories that we are still memorable. As our school is a Roman Catholic school, there is a different culture and a tradition in our school.

• As the tradition of our school , the annually newly upon Head Prefect and the Prefects guild should attend to the procession of the Church feast in the Village. ( The Feast of St.Sebastian’s Shrine Katuneriya ) So we went 2 days to that procession.

                         

                         

               

• We had the opportunity to participate and organize the sesquicentennial celebration of our school. ( The Jubilee Anniversary of 150 years ) It was not just an opportunity for us. Because such a group only gets that opportunity once forever.

           

  •  We did a memorable celebration ' The May Feast ' that dedicated to honoring the Blessed Virgin Mary in the month May and the celebration reflects the spiritual heritage of our college and strengthens the Marian devotion in the hearts of all. My team did it in a different theme and decorations. ( We decorated the school with fresh flower vines, and we gave an opportunity to all the children of school to entertain some special moments of May day etc..)

                

                                

•  In 2023, we held a stall on behalf of our prefect’s fund at our school’s annual fair and carnival ‘SEBS FIESTA’.

             

         

           

                     

• Our team got the chance to participate to the school walk. Such a walk was hold after many years.

          

•          I have to specially remark the memory of how we organize the world teacher's day celebration.It was a different challenge to us. Because until the last day before to teacher's day also our Rev. Principal Father told us to no need any celebrations for teachers. But suddenly he told us to " OK Thilina! You can arrange it. But not at the school hall, I want a change. So arrange it in a outdoor place that wherever you want ."  So we suddenly prepared for it and we arranged the celebration in the place of our school called 'Ruk Sewana'. Absolutely it was amazing. We were very appreciated by the whole school, teachers and children too.                             

            As the above mentioned, I and my team did lots of things during our era. The above are only some of things. We started our duty period in 2022 and the end of our duty period was on 20th of December in 2023. 

                  

                  My Head prefect role , my school has taught me not only education, but also responsibility, leadership, and humanity. I still like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Principal father and  teachers who gave me that opportunity, and to my team who supported and trusted me. The moments we shared, the challenges we faced, and the achievements we earned together will remain in my heart forever.

The lessons I have learned here will continue to guide me in my future journey.Wishing our school continued success and prosperity, and blessing the future leaders with strength and courage. I’m really proud of my most unforgettable head prefect role. Thank you!
