My Alma Mater

 

My Alma mater is my school ‘ St.Sebastian Central College Katuneriya.’ It was established in 1873AD and has a long history of excellence in education and character-building.


Our school excels in both academics and extracurricular activities. It is a large government mixed school on the Chilaw–Negombo main road, with one of the biggest playgrounds in the area. Students actively participate and achieve in cricket, taekwondo, karate, and many other competitions.

I am deeply proud of my school and everything it has given me. I have always represented my school with pride, showing my colours with enthusiasm. Even after the school academic journey also. The same audience  always supports and cheers me on.It strengths me more.


Being a student here has shaped me into a responsible, disciplined and confident individual. I have had the honor of serving as the head prefect and a leader among my peers, and I have always strived to maintain a good reputation for both myself and my school. The guidance of my teachers, especially my beloved mentors, has been invaluable in developing my abilities and character.



Because of my school, I have grown into someone who respects others, leads with integrity, and performs with dedication.  I'm Thilina Malshan Perera . I'm 22 years old. I'm from Marawila. I'm the one and only child to my parents. I'm currently an undergraduate student in University of Visual and Performing Arts. Simply, I'm one of the breathing humans in this world. Dance is my passion. So I always try to learn some more new things that related to my path. To date I can dance Sri Lankan traditional dance, Indian classical Kathak dance style, Modern Contemperory dance too..  Personally I know that, dance is the way to satisfy my own self. Delayed Dreams

‘ Waiting for Our Academic Journey to Begin🎓’  I am currently a first-year student at the University of Visual and Performing Arts. In our batch, most students were born in 2004, but there are also students born in 2002, 2003, and 2005. However, the sad situation is that although we completed our G.C.E. Advanced Level examination in 2023–2024 and were selected to the university in the same year, we are still at home. Our academic activities started online in September 2025, but even by February 2026, we are still not attending to physical lectures.            We were supposed to start physical lectures on the 23rd of March 2026, but due to a global issue, it was postponed again. As students, we truly wish to start our academic journey on time, complete our degree within the proper period, and move forward with our own careers and lives. The most unforgettable role in my life

           ‘  The period I spent as the head prefect of my school  ’    is my most unforgettable leading role in my life. I am the former head prefect of St.Sebastian’s Central College Katuneriya in 2022-2023.                         My school was established on 1873 AD. Since that period onwards, I am the first and only head prefect that emerged from the dancing section. During my duty period there were 90 prefects under me and the other head prefect girl , such as 4 Deputy head prefects , 58 senior prefects and 28 junior prefects.
